JAN (JOHN) BARAN

Obituary of JAN (JOHN) BARAN

JAN (JOHN) BARAN It is with great sorrow that the Baran family announces the passing of Jan (John) on July 22, 2014. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years Pauline, his children Christina (Ken) and Roman (Diane) and his granddaughters Tara (Conrad) and Anastasia (Jason). John was born in Ukraine on December 27, 1927, the eldest of five brothers and the last surviving sibling. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Christina’s late husband, Ernie Kuzyk. In his youth, John was transported to labour camps and in Germany he met the love of his life, Pauline. Their deep love and devotion enabled them to survive the devastation of WWII. After the births of Christina and Roman, their future lay in emigration to Canada in 1957. John became a proud Canadian who constantly boasted about their wonderful new home. Careers with MTS and CPR provided a comfortable life for his family. His love for his children and grandchildren brought him the greatest of happiness. Knowing how well they were prospering meant the world to him. John had a passion and enthusiasm for life and a sense of humour that will always be remembered. He will be sadly missed. Divine Liturgy will be sung on Monday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Arlington and Bannerman. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
