Obituary of KENNETH MILLS

KENNETH MICHAEL MILLS September 23, 1963 - August 21, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ken Mills on August 21, 2014 at the age of 50. Ken is survived by his parents, Tom and Ruth, children Daniel and Hillary, sisters Wendy (Jim) and Judy (Tim), Baba Rosie, fiancé Christina (daughter Kierra), as well as many nieces and nephews. Ken grew up in Winnipeg’s west end, attending Montcalm School, Hugh John MacDonald and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He began his career in Flin Flon working for HBMS before returning to Winnipeg in 1988 to join the Winnipeg Fire Department; he was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2013. Ken loved to make people laugh and was known for his (mostly goofy) pranks. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking up a gourmet meal, whether for family/friends or the boys at the fire hall. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and was an amateur radio operator VE4KEN. A celebration of life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fire Fighter’s Burn Fund.
