RONALD ALLAN BOBBIE

Obituary of RONALD ALLAN BOBBIE

RONALD ALLAN BOBBIE February 20, 1955 – September 26, 2014 Sadly, Ron passed away on September 26, and is finally at peace. He was predeceased by his father John Bobbie, and is survived by his mother Pauline Bobbie, daughter Pharus Bobbie and grandsons Maks and Louis; brother Bill; sister Shirley and children Kerry and Kris; brother Ray (Jane) and children Kirt and Ryanne, brother Kevin (Cheryl) and children Brendan and Aaron. Ron was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan. He graduated from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate in 1973. In junior and senior high, he and his huge group of friends gathered at Matt’s restaurant on Henderson Hwy and they named their group of friends “Matt’s Maulers”. He was a charismatic guy, and took great care of his appearance. Everyone recognized him. After high school, he worked for Canada Post. He was a hard working, disciplined guy, and was the first one of his friends to own his own home. Ron was an active guy, who enjoyed playing fastball often as a pitcher, in the EK Fastball League and then in the Winnipeg Fastball League. He played hockey as well, and played in Canada Post tournaments in cities across Canada. Ron had lots of interests - he loved hunting and fishing with his brothers, friends and nephew. Ron also loved cars. He would often be found cruising around with the top down in his ‘68 Camaro and raced it at Gimli Drag Strip. He kept his Dad’s old car to this day and affectionately named the ‘54 Chevy “The Black Dragon”. Ron really loved and respected his family. He loved and missed his father who died when he was still in high school, and could often still be found visiting his grave. He always found time to visit his Mom right up to his last day. Ron was so proud of his daughter Pharus, and her two children, he loved them unconditionally. He lived to look after her. His close friends and people he would meet in his daily travels were able to see the real Ron despite his illness. He was loved, and will be missed. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Friday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
