Obituary of ANNA INGEBORG MARTIN

ANNA INGEBORG MARTIN Peacefully, on Saturday, October 25, 2014, Anna Martin passed away at the age of 101 years. Born Anna Ingeborg Carlson on August 7, 1913, near Lac du Bonnet, she married Joseph Martin on Dec. 20, 1934, spending most of her life in the Lac du Bonnet area. Mom enjoyed gardening and flowers of all kinds. She will be remembered for her Christmas baking, handmade quilts, and her huge garden, giving it up only when she and Joe retired to Beausejour in 1989. She still kept her “green thumb” with houseplants there and later in Winnipeg until failing health resulted in her move to a nursing home at the age of 100. She also loved to knit, making homespun sweaters, socks, and mitts, keeping the family well supplied with dishcloths and slippers in her later years. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1995, son Douglas in 2005, a daughter, Violet, in infancy and her five brothers, Gus, Harold, Fred, Helmer, and George. She will be sadly missed by her children Shirley (Ed) Richter, George (Kathy), Janet (Ron) Bedford, Allan (Chris), daughter in law LaVerne, 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Fred Douglas Heritage House and Meadowood Manor for their care and support in mom’s later years. In accordance with Anna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. A graveside family service will take place at a later date.
