Obituary of LIDA NAKAROW

LIDA NAKAROW (nee LILIANA PERTILE) It is with great sadness and with family by her side, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Baba and Great-Baba, on October 29, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 86 years. Lida was born in Padua, Italy on November 7, 1927. Leaving Italy, she made her way north to London, England, married and together she and her husband left making a home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She leaves to grieve her daughter Nadia (husband David, sons Elliot and Curtis), her daughter Vera (husband Stanley, stepdaughters Jennifer (family) and Chloe (Ryan); stepsons Michael (fiancée Diana) and Alex, and her son Boris (wife Debbie, daughters Charisse (Dan) and Shantel (Dino); stepsons Randy (family) and Kayle). Bonding through numerous telephone calls, Lida leaves behind her great grandchildren Joey and Daniel. In Canada and Italy, she leaves to grieve her sisters Lidia, Giuseppina, Gabriela and Anna Maria, her brother Umberto, her sister in law Doina and numerous nieces and nephews. In Russia, she leaves behind nieces, great-nieces and nephews. Lida was predeceased by her husband John (April 25, 1985); her sisters Luigina and Laura, brothers Aureliano and Mario. Lida was a friendly presence wherever she went and will be sadly missed by her friends at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary Protectress. Lida was a very hard worker her whole life and found enjoyment at musical events, ballet, dancing, various Winnipeg summer festivities and before she sold her home – her garden of flowers and vegetables. She loved to learn new recipes only to pass all the baking and soups to her children and grandchildren. Lida was a woman who would always bring a smile to your face, and make you feel comfortable in her presence. Mom, Baba and Great-Baba you will always be in our hearts and surrounding you with love, we send you on your new journey. Arrivederci. до свидания. Do svidaniya! X0X0X0. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg, followed by interment in Brookside Cemetery, with Rev. Fr. Alexander Harkavyj officiating. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Lida’s memory.
