Obituary of DANIEL EDWARD NICHOLAS SHANDROSKI

DANIEL EDWARD NICHOLAS SHANDROSKI October 27, 1983 – December 11, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Daniel, Thursday December, 11th 2014 at St. Boniface Hospital at 31 years of age. Upon his birth Daniel was diagnosed with heart disease and the following day underwent his first of many surgeries and procedures. His health issues never held him back from accomplishing his goals and his philosophy was to live his life to the fullest. Daniel graduated from Sisler High School in 2001, following a year off from school he attended Red River College for Culinary Arts before deciding to pursue a career in broadcasting. He attended Tec Voc High School’s radio broadcasting program before attending the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary where he graduated with a diploma in Radio Broadcasting specializing in production. During his career he was employed at the GOAT in Lloydminster, NCI in Winnipeg, and Bell Media also in Winnipeg. Below is the announcement of his passing in the industry magazine Radio And Production, the magazine for Radio’s Producers, Copywriters and Voiceover Artists: December 2014, Vol, 27, Number 12: ”The Production community lost a young, incredibly talented producer. Daniel Shandroski, aged 31, passed away suddenly in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 11th, 2014. Dan graduated from the radio program at SAIT Polytechnic in 2008, and claimed the title as the first radio student EVER to make it on the RAP monthly CD in November 2007. Dan started his production career in Lloydminster shortly after graduation, and later moved back home to Winnipeg to continue his craft. He was a regular contributor to the Radio And Production magazine CD of the month, appearing many times over the last 7 years, and even won the Editor's Choice Award in November 2013. Dan was also a finalist in the RAP Awards Feature Production category in 2008, after less than a year in the business. His wonderful creativity was also expressed in his hobby as a stand-up comic. Dan will be truly missed by his family & friends, co-workers and those who loved his work.” Some of Daniel’s other creative endeavours included; ESV a garage band in which he played guitar: Movie production, short movie “Geeksters”: Performances in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival • Social Dialysis 2012 http://issuu.com/winnipegfringe/docs/fringe_2012 • FREE-DUMB 2008 http://profileengine.com/groups/profile/424675298/freedumb-winnipeg-fringe-2008, He was best known for his stand up comedy becoming a regular at several comedy venues including; Finn’s Pub at the Forks on Sunday nights and Rumors Comedy Club where he competed as the Funniest Comic with a Day Job. Daniel was also lucky enough to perform his stand up comedy at the Central Canada Comic Convention (Comic Con 2014). Daniel will be missed by his parents Pat and Ken, brother Andrew, sister Ally, Baba Irene Dobush, Aunty Chris Dobush, Uncle Fred and Aunty Donna Shandroski, as well as several other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will take place Friday December 19th 2014 at 10 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street in Winnipeg). At the service an “Open Mike” opportunity to share short stories will be available, lunch on site, followed by internment at St. Mary’s Riverside Cemetery in Prawda MB (1 ½ hours east of Winnipeg, map on website) and concluding with coffee at Reynolds Community Club also in Prawda; all are welcome to attend. Daniel’s parents and family would like to thank all of the friends, family and others that provided support for us and Daniel during his lifetime by offering a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, to carry a heavy load he could not manage or a roof and an extra parental hands when he chose to be out of arms reach. Sincere thanks to the late Dr. Jack Armstrong and Dr. Anthony Miller—without whose guidance and council his time with us would have been much shorter.
