Obituary of CHRISTOPHER KENNETH PARFENIUK

CHRISTOPHER KENNETH PARFENIUK September 1940 – January 2015 Peacefully, at home, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, Ken passed away at the age of 74 in the presence of his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Christopher Kenneth was born on the family farm in Hubbard, SK on September 15, 1940 to John and Rose (Lozinski) Parfeniuk. In his late teens, Ken ventured East to Winnipeg to seek employment. His first job was with J J H McLean and then he went on to a very rewarding career with W L Wardrop Engineering Consultants. Ken joined the Victoria Curling Club and in 1983-84 he became Club President. He then got elected to the Manitoba Curling Association council and served as MCA President from 1997 – 1998. Many wonderful and long lasting friendships were made over the years. He loved being around people and would always be there to offer a helping hand. The next path led him to Club Manager at the “Vic”. The closure of the club broke his heart as he truly loved meeting all the people. Ken was always involved in something. If it wasn’t bowling then it was curling. In the summertime it was the lake and fishing but the best part was just sitting around the fire pit at night trading stories with friends and of course a few bubblies. Probably his most loved passion was for gardening. He loved to get his hands in the dirt planting his seeds and then sit back and watch his garden grow. Ken is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Trina Einarson, son-in-law Collin, grandson Brady and granddaughter Tessa. Also survived by sister Deanne Psiurski, brother-in-law Ted, nieces Brenda and Tracey and their families all of Calgary, sister-in-law Joan Wiebe, nephews Darrin and Randy, aunt Steffa Dorosh of Regina and aunt Emma Parfenuik of Hubbard, SK, uncle Joe Lozinski and family in Ontario, many cousins and their families in BC, SK, MB and ON. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Heartfelt thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics Services. Special thank you to cousin Peter Muzyka for your help and advice. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation or a charity of your choice. Memories will keep us together.
