Obituary of VIET HUNG NGUYEN

VIET HUNG NGUYEN On March 24, 2015 Viet Hung passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the age of 64 years. Viet Hung was a beloved grandfather, father, husband, son, brother and friend. He was a longtime employee of Autoline Limited. He was known to many as a selfless, charismatic, generous man with a heart of gold. His sense of humour could be seen in all facets of his life. He was resilient and always had a way of looking at life in a positive light. He loved making people laugh and always found a moment to offer a kind smile and a friendly greeting. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed boating in Lockport and Selkirk. He loved travelling, camping and long road trips. He played the lottery religiously and took pride in his role as lottery group coordinator at his work. He was a "Do-It-Yourself" type who modified everything from his boat winch to his walker. He could often be seen in the backyard tinkering away at some new project. He was a loving partner and father who was always giving of his time and energy, and could always be counted on to be there for anyone who needed him. He cherished family gatherings, especially at Christmas time, where he dressed up as Santa Claus, handing out presents to the entire family, insisting on a picture for each moment. He often brought his video camera to gatherings, wanting to record each special moment. His greatest joy in his later years, was spending time with his granddaughter, Alyssa, who affectionately called him "Papa". He was predeceased by his loving parents Thanh Phan and Sang Nguyen. Viet Hung is survived by his partner Petronila Raceles and his children Nhan Nguyen (son), Phuong Nguyen (daughter), their mother Anh Thi Kieu, Quyen Raceles (daughter) and her husband Carlos Diaz, Elizabeth Raceles Goulet (daughter) and her husband Chase Goulet, Alyssa Mae Goulet (granddaughter), Kim Christina Nguyen Hosein (daughter) and her husband Rahim Hosein. The family would like to thank the Health Sciences Center, Concordia Hospital, Sherbrook Dialysis Unit, Autoline Limited, the Vietnamese Mennonite Church and extended family and friends both near and far. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main with viewing prior to service. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
